After my last post, I thought I should probably share some more information on what we have bought, and our next steps.
The property we have bought is a small acreage that has a lovely old farmhouse sitting on it. This home is perfectly livable but has not had any proper love for a very long time, and we estimate it was built in the forties. The floor is uneven, the foundation needs work, there is asbestos that needs to be removed and replaced, the kitchen needs replacing and the entry to the toilet is outside! This is not ideal for the freezing nights we experience in the Adelaide Hills, so this is something we would like to change as soon as we can.
I’ve long thought about renovating something old, giving it the love it deserves whilst bringing it into the modern world, but also trying to keep some of the charm that existed in that time.
We are still gathering quotes and advice from tradespeople, and will probably be doing this for some time. We want to make sure that this will actually be a viable process, and not just end up an endless money pit. I want there to be enjoyment in this new journey, and not just stress from the huge change we have made to our lives.

It has been up and down in the few weeks that we have been here, things have gone wrong, but we didn’t expect an easy ride. This home has been un-lived in for a while and needs to get used to having occupants again.
I just hope the house loves us as much as we love it, and that we can do it the justice it so truly deserves.
